Christmas Festivities

I work in a supermarket and there are lots of mince pies, christmas puddings and other christmassy food coming through the checkouts. Just looking at the boxes makes me feel christmassy and warm...however I'm not really meant to eat them as I'm on the weight watchers diet. This probably makes me spend longer than most lingering on what they might be like to shove inside my mouth, and also appreciating the nice use of fonts, images and colours on the packaging...

Here are ones I've come across that I like:

My Favourite Place

On my college course I have been developing negative images in the darkroom. To complete the course, I have to produce 12 images on a certain theme and the theme I've chosen is "My Favourite Place", and the place is Bakewell!

Christmas Gift Tags

I have been making some Christmas gift tags. They sort of look slightly scrappy and I will perhaps re-do them but as a first attempt I am quite happy with them.

They are made with coloured card, which is a fairly fun medium to work with but is a bit messy with all the little bits of paper that ends up everywhere.




Previously I had some similar ideas for gift tags-In my sketch book I drew and painted the tags instead



however I didn't really like the way they felt after being painted (I used watercolour paints) . I am still learning how to properly shade things so I wasn't entirely pleased with those either.

New Blog

I have decided to start this blog as I have recently taken up drawing, painting, cooking, taking pictures, and other crafty-type things. I haven't ever really drawn or painted and to look at what I've done, you can see how much of a "beginner" I am but I don't mind that...I'm trying just to have fun and not get caught up with the quality.
